Council rents to rise by up to £2 a week
nlnews@archant.co.uk
05 February 2010
ALMOST 10,000 households in Haringey will see their rent rise by more than two per cent this year.
Most residents will be charged an increase of between £1.50 and £2 a week if the proposed budget for the housing revenue account is agreed at the end of February.
The new costs were revealed by Haringey's finance bosses at a budget scrutiny meeting on Monday.
The average service charge will also fall by £1.59 a week because of reductions in communal light and power fees.
The new rents will mean the tenants of an average three-bedroom home could have to pay about £98 a week, while the tenant of a one-bedroom flat will be charged about £68 a week.
