Motorbike rider killed in crash

POLICE have appealed for witnesses after a 21-year-old motorbike rider was killed in a collision with a lamppost.

The fatal crash took place in Coppetts Close, Muswell Hill, just off the North Circular, at 1.50pm on Sunday.

An air ambulance rushed to the scene and medics fought to save the male motorcyclist, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

He was riding a 125 Aprilla, a popular superbike developed for racing.

The man has not been as the Journal went to press and a post mortem will be held.

An inquest is expected to open next Monday.

The North Circular eastbound was closed between Falloden Way and Colney Hatch Lane, after the incident - causing severe tailbacks.

Buses were diverted via East Finchley and Muswell Hill along Bishops Avenue, Fortis Green and Colney Hatch Lane.
