X FACTOR rocker Jamie Archer sets the stage alight as he performs for children with autism.

The 34-year-old singer gave his first live performance after being booted off the ITV show, at TreeHouse School in Woodside Avenue, Muswell Hill, last Thursday.

He also took part in a drumming lesson and hung out with secondary pupils in their common room.

He said: "I have been blown away by the teachers and children at TreeHouse. I enjoyed performing for them." The former pub singer, better known as Jamie Afro after his hairstyle, was the first in Simon Cowell's over-25s category to be voted off X Factor.

"When I got voted out, I was gutted, but the whole thing is that I went in there to get a break, to have a go at having my career," said Jamie, who lives in Putney. The performance was set up by X Factor sponsors Talk Talk, which has supported autism charity TreeHouse since 2005.
