Security fears over school's 'living ark'

A "LIVING ark" will be built at a primary school despite neighbours complaints that it will attract intruders.

A timber cabin will be built at Muswell Hill Primary School in Muswell Hill after Haringey Council planners granted consent on July 7 recognising its "educational value".

But residents in Dukes Avenue, which borders the site, say it will attract intruders after trespassers were recently found in back gardens and school grounds.

Judith Glover, of Dukes Avenue, said in a letter to Haringey Council: "We are concerned about security. We as a community have always watched out for people entering the school grounds after hours and been vigilant in either disturbing them or calling the police.

"There have been actual and attempted break-ins into our gardens from the school including one in the last two weeks."

They also say a four metre high solar panel will be an "eyesore" and the ark, which is just 1.3 metres from the nearest house, will overshadow gardens.

But the planning report said the ark would "not adversely affect the residential amenities of adjacent occupiers".
