THE voters of East London bucked the trend across the capital when they overwhelmingly backed Labour’s Ken Livingstone over Tory challenger Boris Johnson. Livingstone was the outright winner, polling just over 50 per cent to Johnson’s meagre 26.4 per cent. Had that been repeated across London, Livingstone would be back at City Hall for a third term, without a second ‘run off’ round.
