Goodbye to an eyesore

A BRIGHTER skyline was brought back to Barking when an unused mobile phone mast was wrenched from the ground.

Delighted residents finally saw their wishes granted after spending five years campaigning to have the 'ugly eyesore' removed.

It was pulled from the spot where it's lived for nearly six years on Wednesday morning, February 15.

The mast, which was situated in Longbridge Road at the junction with Malvern Drive, stood on land owned by the neighbouring borough of Redbridge, but was still within range of Barking and Dagenham residents living along the border.
